Frequently asked questions...
Record a great intro
(Tips on recording a great intro and making YOUR intro stand out)

  • The first thing to remember is that you can record your intro as many times as you like. So don't be shy, give it a go! If you stuff it up, you can do it again! If you're unsure, listen to it and if you don't like it, re-record!
  • You might want to think about what you're going to say before you call. That way you won't have lots of ums and ers in your intro.
  • Even if you do want to put a little more thought into it and plan your intro in advance, you may not want to sound like you are reading from a script. An idea is to just put down a few points to remind yourself what you want to say, then talk naturally. Otherwise, you may sound like a geek. But then again, some girls like geeks...
  • You may be a little shy at first, but make sure you don't speak too softly so that other people can't understand you well.
  • Sound confident and positive.
  • Smile while you're recording. Other callers will be able to hear it in your voice.
  • Common things to include are your name (first name only, please!), your age and the city or region you live in. You don't have to include any of these unless you want to. But if you live in Melbourne and you only want to talk to other people in Melbourne, it saves time if you say so!
  • If you spend lots of time describing your physical appearance, you're more likely to attract lots of callers who are only interested in physical appearance.
  • Try including something a bit different to make your intro stand out. What kind of movies are you into? Do you like sport? Which team do you support? Who are your favourite celebs? If you had the day off, what would you most like to be doing?
  • Don't just say you have a sense of humour – most people do, but what kind of humour? Eddie Murphy or Woody Allen or Groucho Marx?
  • If you have a mailbox intro, consider changing it every week or so. That way different people will be interested and contact you.

FIRST CONTACT

For lots of girls, you'll have to make first contact. I know, we're all meant to be equal now, but old habits die hard.

There's probably a lot of guys contacting the cute-sounding girls. So make your intro and your first message stand out!

Ask questions. Show you're interested in her.

Make sure you share information about you as well. For everything she tells you about her, you should tell her something about you too.

It can be hard to know what to say when you first start talking to someone. You may want to think of some ‘safe' topics to talk about at the beginning, where you get an idea what someone is like but it's not too personal. For example:

  • Your job
  • What kind of things you like to do at the weekend
  • Where you grew up
  • Which season you like best
  • Where you'd go on a dream holiday
  • Do you prefer beach or country? Morning or evening?
  • What you did last night

Don't just ask about physical appearance. It makes you sound like you're only interested in one thing!

If a girl doesn't answer your messages, just give her some time then try again. Bear in mind that she may be talking live with someone else or getting through other messages she received and this can take time.

If she sounds too good to be true, she probably is!
